"Batter Upped", Way to Die #899, is the third death featured in "Death Takes A Vacation", which aired November 14, 2011.

Plot[]

After the carnival ends, a food vendor named Julian tries to attract his co-worker Dixie in their booth by offering her deep-fried Twinkies, chocolate bars, and pickles. However, instead of achieving his goal, the deep-fried foods lower Dixie's sex drive, despite her enjoyment of the tasty snacks. The two have fun together until Julian tries to make out with her, embracing her and trying to kiss her.

Uninterested, Dixie resists, at first softly dissuading him, pushing him away. When he prevails despite her objections, he goes into rage mode and tries to rape her, but Dixie dumps a bucket of batter over his head and runs off to her car. Julian attempts to run after her but ends up running into a pole and face-planting senseless into the deep-fryer, which gives him fatal burns and boils his brain alive. When Dixie took flight, she forgot her keys, so she went back for them and then found out that he was as alive as a day-old funnel cake, Dixie saw that Julian had his head in the deep-fryer. She pulled his head out and was horrified to see Julian fried and dead, sending him straight to hell for his actions.

Trivia[]

  • Also called "Fried D'oh!" on the Spike TV website.
  • This fantasy between Julian and his co-worker was based on a romance scene from 9 1/2 Weeks (1986).
  • In the CGI recreation, Julian's brain turns into a box of powdered donuts to symbolize it getting cooked.
  • Despite Julian trying to assault her earlier, Dixie appears completely indifferent when she has to go back for her keys. Due to Julian and Dixie apparently being friends before his assault on her, she may have thought that he would have been apologetic, or at least no longer violent, by the time she returned.
  • In the European Spanish dub (Spain), the name of the death refers to the food of the same name (Fritanga), which is a set of fried foods, usually tubers, sausages, meats and offal, which are fried in abundant oil or lard.
