"Death of Sum Young Guy", Way to Die #159, is the third death to be featured in "Fatal Distractions", which aired on October 5, 2010.
Plot[]
Big Mike was a man who loved eating, especially at buffets. Big Mike then walked into an All You Can Eat Chinese American buffet. He then went on binge eating Chinese American food, which was loaded with MSG (Monosodium glutamate), a flavor enhancing chemical which is normally harmless but has been researched into its potential to result in people eating to excess.
Devouring any food he could get his hands on, Big Mike stopped only once when he was choking after a fifth plate of spare ribs. The owner of the buffet, however, saved him from choking and he resumed eating. After he was done stuffing his face, Mike did not pay the owner a tip and grabbed a bunch of fortune cookies to eat, and the owner told him to leave and never come back.
While leaving, Mike suffered from a sudden heart attack caused by the sheer amount of food and MSG he had gorged on. As he fell, the back of his head struck the ground, cracking his skull open like the shell of an egg. The owner of the restaurant approached and attempted to wake him up, but it was already too late.
Transcript[]
(A giant walks as the camera sways)
Narrator: There's 4 words that get Big Mike outpounding the pavement: All, You, Can, Eat.
(Big Mike enters in the buffet)
Narrator: He spends his days going from one Chinese Buffet to the next.
(Big Mike starts eat the buffet he ordered)
Narrator: Today was Friday. Which meant it was Madame Cheng's turn to take the big hit.
(After his first dish, he goes to the next dish)
James Shin: All when a person comes in and won't stop eating it considerably cut it to the prophet margin. (Giggling) It's really frustrating when people coming to restaurant and he just won't leave, they sit there for hours on in, and order to... you know, dish after dish.
(Mind Over Splatter is playing)
Narrator: Mike was addicted to the Chinese food enhancer, MSG. It was the opposite of an appetite present, it made him want to eat, more. After his 5th plate of spare ribs, he had the speed bump.
Big Mike: (Coughs)
Owner: Hi'ya!
(The owner punches Big Mike's heart, saved him from choking)
Narrator: Quick action on Madame Cheng's part, and Mike got back on his feet.
(Big Mike resumes eating)
Narrator: After breaking his own record for stuffing his face, it was time to go.
(Later...)
Owner: No tip?!?
Big Mike: Pfft. Not going to tip you.
(Big Mike grabs some fortune cookies)
Owner: Don't come back!
(Big Mike eats these cookies, Mind Over Splatter is resuming)
Narrator: Don't worry, he won't. The amount of MSG that he build up in his system, was wreaking havoc on his fat clogged heart.
(His heart beats fast)
Narrator: He had shortness of breath. A sharp pain shot up his left arm. His eyes grew wide, and he hit the deck. Like a giant eggroll.
(Big Mike flops, the cookies shattered; Precussive Crime Science is playing, CGI shows smiling MSG enters in the blood vein, proceeds to the heart, heart beats fast, cracks)
Dr. Reza Jamehdor: Our hearts actually have glutamate receptors, ingesting large amounts of... this MSG which has monosodium glutamate, could lead to arrhythmias. If an arrhythmia is sustained, it could lead to death.
(The owner tries to wake Big Mike up, [] is playing)
Narrator: A funny thing about Mike's Chinese food related heart attack. An hour later, he wanted to die again!
(Fortune cookie paper wrote "Good fortune awaits you at the end of the day. 01 15 26 35 39. 25.")
