"Die-rect TV", Way to Die #420, is the fifth death to be featured in "Death – Putting The "Fun" In "Funeral", which aired on February 22, 2012.
Plot[]
A big city like New York can show many contrasts, Phillip was a squatter in an abandoned building in Brooklyn, in front of his building there was a yuppies building in which an attractive couple lived. To light his home, Phillip stole electricity, but since TV broadcasting went digital in June 2009, his TV antenna only picked up... interference, which bothered him, the rich couple across the alley were happy with their cable TV, Phillip decided it was time for action. His plan was to connect to his neighbors' cable to watch TV.
Phillip snuck up to the fire escape of his neighbors' building with a TV cable and a Phillips Screwdriver, opened their TV box and started hacking into it, he chose the best moment to hack his neighbors' cable without being seen, they were watching a 1000 Ways to Die marathon with some beers and the episode that was airing was The End is Weird, shows like this made Phillip wish he had cable.
The plan was to split the cable and then everyone would be happy, but Phillip, he wasn't a qualified technician, he disconnected the cable from his neighbors' TV and they wondered if they paid the bill, the squatter was about to connect to over 1,000 channels with premium movies and 3D options, all for free, he finally managed to connect his TV and reconnected his neighbors', but then Phillip slipped and rolled down the stairs with the screwdriver in his mouth, but then Phillip slipped and fell down the stairs with the screwdriver in his mouth and the noise caught the couple's attention, then Phillip had to pay an extra cost, his life, he fell on the screwdriver which crossed his throat and brainstem, his heart stopped beating, his breathing was cut off and his life was extinguished... forever, sending him to Hell, leaving the couple horrified and giving 1000 Ways to Die a good story.
Narrator: Phillip tried to steal someone's cable so that he could watch 1000 Ways to Die. But stealing cable TV is wrong. In the end, he wound up providing 1000 Ways to Die a good story. Thanks, Phillip.

Trivia[]
- On the TV, the neighbors were watching two previous segments from season 3 "Vom-Ate-Dead" (Way to Die #323) and "Hang Dunked" (Way to Die #284) from the episode The End is Weird.
- The death shown right before the beginning of the tape transition was Crash-endo. Ironically, both Crash-endo and this death involve the victim falling downstairs and to their death.
- "Hang Dunked" plays after Phillip's fall, the narrator in that segment saying, "He dropped". Both Hang Dunked and this death involve the victim falling but killed by something else rather than the fall's impact.
- Ironically, there was never a 1000 Ways to Die marathon on this date.
- This is one of 2 deaths caused by screwdriver. The other is A Turn For The Purse.
- The segment number is #420, a number associated with weed.
Goof[]
- The death is set in 2009, but the deaths shown on TV were from The End is Weird, first released in 2010. In addition, Crash-endo is from Death Bites, albeit Death Bites didn't air until December 9, 2009, so the date should renamed "December 9, 2010"
