1000 Ways To Die Wiki

"Dill D'oh!", Way to Die #149, is the third death to be featured in "Ready Or Not, Here Comes Death", which aired on February 23, 2011.

Plot[]

Mr. Roger Franklin was a retired chemistry teacher who was sent to a nursing home by his greedy children who had him declared incapable of caring for himself just so they could get his money. He does demonstrations for the other residents (despite being reprimanded by Peter who was a mean-spirited nursing home aide), including one in which he uses a pickle to conduct electric current (which amused the residents). Peter arrives and tells Roger not to use electric devices. When Peter grabs the equipment to confiscate it, he completes a circuit that sends an electric shock through his heart. Not listening to Roger, Peter gets electrocuted and dies of cardiac arrest. After his death, Roger gloats over him and Peter goes straight to hell where he belonged and NEVER comes back.

Transcript[]

Narrator: Here's something to look forward to. You work like a slave to get your kids everything they want. And as soon as they can, they stick your wrinkled butt in a nursing home. If you're really unlucky, you wind up at Happy Acres, run by this tool.

Peter: I think these are yours, take one.

Narrator: Peter was a compassionless bastard who hated old people.

Peter: You're drooling again!

Narrator: Mr. Franklin is a retired science teacher whose kids had him declared mentally incompetent to get his money. Mr. Franklin spent his days doing the two things he enjoyed most: science experiments...

(Roger pours Hydrogen Peroxide down the beaker as the mixture foams up)

Narrator: and pissing off Peter.

(The foamy mixture pours out of the beaker as Peter goes over)

Peter: Dammit Roger! I told you, no science experiments in the lounge!

Narrator: One day, while Peter was working one of the staff nurses, Mr. Franklin was experimenting with his lunch.

(Roger stares at his pickle, rather longingly, before placing it on a beer can)

Narrator: It was something he used to teach in high school. A pickle can be turned into a crude light. By using its natural salinity, a couple of nails, and a power source.

(The pickle starts to glow brightly, as all the residents are awestruck by the display)

Peter: I told you, no electronic devices ever!

Roger: But it's a pickle!

Peter: Damn it, Roger!

(Peter grabs the pickle, electricity sparking from his hands are he starts to seize up and fall, the electrical current running through his body with enough voltage to kill him)

Narrator: Peter grabbed the pickle. And got juiced.

Roger: You know, you shouldn't have grabbed a pickle that was lit up. Any fool knows that. "Oh, that pickle's lit up". "Well don't grab it then!" You know, no.

Gene Ruebsamen:

Narrator: Peter picked a pickle...

Peter: Dammit Roger!

Narrator: That gave him a tickle. Now his life isn't worth. A wooden nickel.
