1000 Ways To Die Wiki

"Fang Banged", Way to Die #92, is the third death to be featured in "Life Will Kill You", which aired on May 14, 2008.

Plot[]

Darryl and Bobby Joe, a couple of rednecks, are playing with their shotguns. Darryl decides to scare Bobby Joe by firing his gun at him. After a few misses, Bobby Joe falls to the ground and dies. He had the unlucky fortune to fall on a rattlesnake, who bit and killed him. It was very quick, because the snake bit very close to his heart.

Transcript[]

([] is playing, slow motion of beer bottle explodes)

Narrator: What do you get when you mix a couple of good old boys, too many beers and a small arsenal of firearms? Your basic hillbilly holiday. But these guys got more than they bargained for. In a world where there's 1000 Ways to Die, this one strikes you when you least expect it.

(The truck arrives at the destination, BJ shoots in the air, Sharks is playing)

-Bobby Joe: Yeaaah!! Haha!
-Narrator: Bobby Joe & Darryl were 2 brothers looking to blow off some steam. What better way than to jump into your pickup truck, go out in the middle of nowhere, and shoot off some guns?

(Darryl shoots the beer bottle)

Narrator: Other than the brain-crippling hangover they were facing, nobody gets hurt and they get a days worth of laughs.

Darryl: Haha.

(Darryl continues to shoot the bottles)

Narrator: Things were going according to plan until Darryl decided to scare the pants off his little brother.

(Darryl nearly shoots BJ as he tries to scare him)

Bobby Joe: Jesus!! Help!! Jesus...!! Woah!

Narrator: Bobby Joe hit the ground and was dead within minutes.

(Rewind a little...)

Narrator: But not from a gunshot wound!

(BJ falls in slow motion, the rattle snake bites his chest)

Narrator: Bobby had a bad luck to fall on top of a rattlesnake. Who dug his fang into Bobby's chest, and released his venom just above his heart.

Jules Sylvester: My name is Jules Sylvester, and this is enough rattlesnake venom to kill over a dozen people.

(Jules Sylvester shows us the jar with snake's venom, [] is playing)

Jules Sylvester: 95% of people getting bitten by snakes, they're under 27 years old, they're with their buddies, they've had a couple of beers and they think they're hot stuff. And the snake says: "No, you're not. I'll kill ya." Ready? Say ah...

(The snake bites the vinyl on the jar)

Jules Sylvester: Ungh... (Growls of pain to see the snake releases his venom) Jesus Christ... Very pissed off. See the drops there? That's 10 drops came out of one fang alone. All it takes is one drop to knock you on your butt. The fangs are hollow, just like a hypodermic. And it's a perfect design. They'll go in, stab, squirt and pull out, in a fraction of a second. They're very, very fast.

(Slow motion of a rattlesnake bites BJ's chest, venom gets in the blood vessel)

Narrator: Rattlesnake venom can cause major damage throughout the body, destroying tissue and organs. And disrupts blood clotting. Severe envenomation combined with delayed or ineffective treatment, can lead to loss of a limb and ultimately death.

Interviewer: So, if you're a drunken redneck, and you spent the whole day out in the hot sun, drinking like, 12 beers, and shooting off guns, and you fall on a snake, and you basically just got bit, what do you think's going through your mind?

Jules Sylvester: Our father which art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name -- that's about it. Not gonna make it, mate. (Laughs)

(After the deathcard, the trivia, [] is playing)

Narrator: Technically, rattlesnake are not poisonous, they are venomous. Delivering their toxin directly into the bloodstream. A poison is ingested. You could actually drink a vile of rattlesnake venom and feel no ill effects.

Trivia[]

  • Nothing is mentioned about Bobby Joe's brother, Darryl, after Bobby gets bitten.
  • This death slightly contradicts Way to Die #233: Chili Today... Dead Tomorrow (the final death interviewed by Jules Sylvester), when Thom Beers said " You could actually drink a vile of Snake Venom and feel no ill effects. It should be noted, however, that it killed Larry because it entered his bloodstream through the sores in his mouth. Usually, rattlesnake venom is harmless to drink so long as there's no passageway into the bloodstream.
  • This is the first appearance of Jules Sylvester.
  • This is the first death to have a doggerel quote.
  • This is the first segment airing with 0's (#1-#99).
  • If you consider deaths from the 1970s to be historical then this is the first historical death of the series.
  • The footage of the rattlesnake was later reused in Butt F***ed
  • This is one of the deaths featured in the Bravo promo. The other deaths are: Wet Dream (606), Tumble Die and Lesbocution.
    • However, the death was set as #22 instead of #92, being the death where the original number is the closest to Bravo's with a difference of 70.
    • In the promo, both stickmen die, unlike in 1000 Ways to Die where only one person dies.
