"Death is everywhere… most of us try to avoid it, others can't get out of its way. Everyday we fight a new war against germs, toxins, injury, illness, and catastrophe. There's a lot of ways to end up dead, the fact that we survive it all is a miracle; because everyday we live, we face… 1000 Ways to Die."

Boom Goes The Dumb-namite[]

The sun hung low over the horizon, casting long shadows in the streets of the city. A tense atmosphere hung in the air as a group of cocaleros, one among them, a 25-year-old man named Raul, faced off against the police in a heated confrontation. Raul, like many others, felt passionately about the right to continue the traditional cultivation of coca in Bolivia. The government's policies pushed to reduce coca production, which threatened the livelihoods of thousands. The tension between the cocaleros and the police had been escalating for weeks, and today, it reached a boiling point.

In the midst of the chaos, Raul grabbed a wooden stick, intending to throw it at the police as a symbol of defiance. He believed that in his hand was the homemade dynamite he had prepared. Blinded by his anger, Raul hurled the stick at the officers, only to have it smash against the ground harmlessly. In his confusion, Raul had mistakenly thrown the stick instead of the dynamite. As he reached into his pocket, expecting to retrieve the harmless stick, it was the dynamite that greeted his hand. The explosive power within the dynamite was unleashed, and Raul's body was brutally torn apart.

Chair-ity Fail[]

Bradley, a fat con artist, was infamous in the city for his elaborate scams, preying on the generous hearts of the public by pretending to have autism or other disabilities. This man is shameless.

Bradley's latest scheme involved standing at a busy intersection, dressed in a wheelchair, his face contorted in a perpetual grimace. He held up a sign that read, "Please help, I'm disabled." The public, unaware of the truth, would throw spare change into a cup in his lap. However, Bradley's luck would soon run out. A car approached the intersection, swerving to miss a jaywalker. The driver lost control, and the car crashed into Bradley's wheelchair, sending him flying. He landed headfirst onto a metal drainage grate, hitting his skull hard and dying instantly.

Crushing Booth[]

Jimmy was a tall, muscular man with a menacing demeanor. He had a charm that hooked Ava, young woman aspiring artist, who believed their relationship could overcome Jimmy's temper. Initially, Jimmy was attentive, showering Ava with gifts and compliments. However, as time passed, his controlling nature surfaced. He'd often criticize her art, belittle her, and question her self-worth. Physical abuse followed, leaving bruises and broken spirits. Ava, in a twisted cycle of love and fear, stayed.

When July 4 arrived, Jimmy took Ava to the Summerfest Carnival. While Ava reluctantly agreed, she saw hope for a fun day with her friends, who were also attending the event. Jimmy, in his usual fashion, began to dominate the night. He led Ava from game to ride, all the while scoffing at her attempts to have fun with her friends. As they passed a booth promoting a local band, a large poster of the band members caught Jimmy's eye. Frustrated at the way Ava was looking at the poster because of the good-looking boys, Jimmy snatched it from the booth. As he did, a poorly installed metal rod supporting the booth gave way, causing it to collapse. The poster, now a mortal projectile, connected with the ceiling frame, causing the booth to collapse. The wooden beams and metal rods fell, burying Jimmy while others (Ava included) escaped. Ava watched in horror as her abuser was crushed to death, but feeling relief inside as she was finally freed from him.
